History & Renovations
Built in 1956 by well-known Charlottesville builder Randolph Bibb, this beautiful house was designed and constructed with every high-end amenity of its day. It housed only one family over its first 50 years.
Until 2013, it retained the original design and amenities (including 1956 plumbing and electrical systems!). The 2013-2014 renovation added or upgraded over 5,000 square feet of space, including the addition of a 1,300 square foot luxury guest suite with a wrap around wooden covered deck, a screened mahogany porch off the main level living room, an adjacent uncovered sundeck, a 900 square foot loft office (with utilities for conversion to another bedroom / bathroom suite). Electrical and plumbing systems were upgraded and expanded, a wirelessly controlled central heat and air-condition system was added, and a state-of-the-art centralized fire and carbon monoxide detection system was installed.
Total 5,020 square feet of new and renovated space breaks down to: 3,920sf indoor living space across three floors, 550sf covered wrap-around porch off guest suite, 350sf screened and covered mahogany porch and 200sf uncovered sun deck off mail level living room. Excluded from this total is a 422sf utility and mechanical room with built in shelves, work bench and a handy-man work area.

Kitchen before renovation. We converted to galley style and added a window to open up a straight line of sight from the entrance way through the dining room, kitchen and outside.
Dining room before renovation. We opened up the doorway into the kitchen. And added a transom. Then opened the wall to the entrance way.
Unfinished basement which was converted into the guest suite. The window converted to a door to access the covered porch.
Hallway to main level bedrooms. We reclaimed and refinished the original oak hardwood floors underneath.
The bathrooms had black and white vintage tile wainscot. Replaced with modern tile and walls. Added recessed cabinets and external exhausting fans. New vanities, sinks, toilets, hardware, over toilet storage, etc.
Bathroom was started but never finished.
